Product description

This one doesn’t follow the rules — it rewrites them. Sauvignon Blanc brings the zip, Semillon adds texture, and together they make something sharp, vibrant, and just a little wild. Think gooseberry, guava, and grapefruit with a finish that doesn’t know when to quit.

Juicy grapefruit and mango are highlighted by fresh spring pea pods on the nose. More grapefruit, honey crisp apple, and fennel on the palate. Dry, crisp and refreshing with zesty lime. Fantastic intensity and length.

Pairing

Goat cheese crostini, fresh summer salads, grilled asparagus, oysters, ceviche, white fish with herbs and lemon, fish tacos.

Cellaring

Enjoy through 2030

David Lawrason  This is a blend of sauvignon blanc and semillon aged in barrel, the classic white Bordeaux model - and one of the best examples from Niagara year after year. I would argue it is Creekside's signature. It shows fairly generous and complex aromas of green chestnut, lime, fig, spruce needle and light wood spice. It is medium weight, fleshy yet solid and dry with a slightly waxy texture and some warmth. The length is excellent. A substantial but not heavy white for winter enjoyment. Tasted January 2025

Michael Godel - Near equal parts sauvignon blanc and sémillon with neither the controlling kind and so the union is a strong one. Did not expect this much ripeness, nor fleshy quality, although the fruit feels swimming and macerating in its own natural juices. Fine quality.

Vintage Notes

The 2023 growing season in Niagara was moderate and cooler than average through much of the cycle, with a welcome return of warmth and sunshine later in the season that allowed both Sauvignon Blanc and Semillon to reach full ripeness.

The cooler conditions preserved natural acidity and aromatic precision, particularly in Sauvignon Blanc, while the later-season warmth supported phenolic development and texture in Semillon. This balance of a restrained early season and favourable autumn weather resulted in fruit showing freshness, clarity, and structural harmony, making 2023 especially well-suited to a Sauvignon Blanc–Semillon blend.

The vintage expresses bright citrus and herbal lift from Sauvignon Blanc, complemented by roundness, subtle waxy texture, and mid-palate depth from Semillon, delivering a poised, food-friendly style with excellent balance.

Vinification

Each variety was fermented and aged separately in French oak barrels and puncheons. Trials were done to determine the perfect blend and balance between the two. Sauvignon Blanc brings the zesty, aromatic intensity and brightness while Semillon contributes softer, subtler nuances and a nice waxy texture. The perfect yin and yang.

Producer Description

Creekside Estate Winery opened in 1997 in small-town Jordan, Ontario.  The Winery is run by a passionate (some say fanatical) group of industry veterans who have decades of experience in their respective fields. The team of self-described cork dorks love what they do, and have fun doing it.

Early on the darlings of the Creekside portfolio were, like the people who created them, a little outside of the mainstream fold; Sauvignon Blanc and Syrah are the signature wines.  Creekside has also developed a cult following for its Sauvignon Blanc / Semillon blend and Ontario’s award winning Broken Press Syrah.

Despite being considered viticulturally off-kilter for the region these 2 grapes showed promise and the early successes spurred further investment in the vineyard and cellar.
